President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has announced that Dave Gomez has been sacked as the secretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
According to him, Gomez will be replaced by former Taguig City Mayor and PTV general manager Lino Cayetano.
Cayetano will be the sixth press secretary of the Marcos Jr. administration.
Marcos Jr. has also accepted the resignation of Henry Aguda as secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) after being bypassed by the Commission on Appointments (CA), despite not having a replacement for the position yet.
Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla was the first to reveal Marcos Jr.’s acceptance of Aguda’s resignation during his DZRH program yesterday.
Many were surprised by the seemingly sudden firing of Gomez, considering he is currently with Marcos Jr. in Singapore.
Gomez has not yet released a statement regarding his fate. # (RRN)
