Seemingly bothered by Vivamax star Angeli Khang’s revelation that she felt she was taken advantage of during filming of intimate scenes in her movies, women’s group Gabriela will seek to address the issue by having a dialogue with the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
Angeli revealed in her interview with Toni Gonzaga in her online show that there were times she felt “taken advantage of” during execution of intimate scenes.
“May times na nakaplaster pero natatanggal ang plaster kasi tumitigas. Tapos bago pa mag-take yung director, hinahalikan na ako. After mag-take hinahalikan pa rin ako,” Angeli revealed in the interview.
“We are concerned over the recent revelations made by actress Angeli Khang regarding her experiences in the film industry. Her admission of feeling ‘taken advantage of’ while filming… is a manifestation of the pervasive exploitation that women continue to face,” Gabriela’s legislative consultant for young women’s affairs Sarah Elago said.
“Such behavior represents a gross breach of consent and professional ethics that cannot be tolerated in any workplace, much less in an industry that wields significant influence over societal norms and values,” Sarah added.
With this, Sarah revealed that Gabriela, represented by Rep. Arlene Brosas, will mention Angeli’s experience during the budget deliberation of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
“We will raise these concerns during the budget hearing with the MTRCB, Sarah said, noting that “we will also introduce legislative measures that will address women’s concerns in the local entertainment industry. Sarah is a former House representative of Kabataan party-list.
Gabriela, according to Sarah “stands in solidarity with Ms. Khang and all women who have experienced similar abuses.” (NIGEL CHAVEZ DE ESTRADA)
