Tindig Pilipinas to withdraw second impeachment case to back third complaint vs. VP Sara

Petitioners of the second impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte announced they will formally withdraw their case on Monday to consolidate support for the third impeachment complaint.

“We believe that the impeachment process must proceed at the earliest possible time, free from procedural limbo and unnecessary legal delays,” the group said in a statement.

The second complaint, filed on February 2, 2026 by Tindig Pilipinas led by Kiko Aquino Dee, was endorsed by Akbayan Rep. Percival Cendaña and Mamamayang Liberal Rep. Leila de Lima.

A group of priests, nuns, and lawyers filed the third impeachment complaint, accusing Duterte of misusing ₱612 million in confidential funds, corrupting officials of the Department of Education, and reviving allegations that she threatened to assassinate former ally President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Shortly after Duterte declared her candidacy for the 2028 presidential election, a fourth impeachment complaint was lodged by lawyer Nathaniel Cabrera, endorsed by Deputy House Speaker Paolo Ortega and Manila Rep. Bienvenido Abante. It accused Duterte of misusing public funds and concealing undeclared wealth.

“This is about constitutional accountability,” Ortega said. “Any undeclared asset or unexplained wealth is a grave issue.” (JCNE)
