Senate impeachment court presiding officer Francis “Chiz” Escudero on Wednesday presented a draft schedule for the ongoing impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, now on its 21st day.
Escudero said the adjustments are necessary as the Senate prepares to deliberate on the proposed 2027 national budget. He noted the schedule remains tentative pending confirmation next week.
Full-day hearings are set for Oct. 1–2, Oct. 5–9, and Oct. 12–15, running from 10 a.m. until early evening. Sessions will pause Oct. 16–Nov. 8 to accommodate Finance Committee hearings.
The trial will resume on Nov. 9 and 16, before returning to “normal programming” on Nov. 23 until conclusion.
Escudero assured counsels the adjustments aim to balance legislative duties with the impeachment proceedings. # (ZIA LUNA)
