Robin should not seek reelection in 2028

More often, it’s our words–most especially when spoken carelessly–that get us into trouble.

If social media encourages the “think before you click” rule, it’s no different from our casual day-to-day conversations with friends or acquaintances, strangers even.

Senator Robin Padilla proves himself to be a classic example of an individual who speaks his mind regardless of the ill effects of his words.

In showbiz circles, the likes of Robin are lumped together with a common characteristic: “Mema.”

Of late, the political greenhorn has been the target of massive social media bashing for his “Ang hirap palang maging senador!” statement or words to that effect.

While it may be any lawmaker’s sentiment given the public expectations, Robin’s words sounded more like whinging.

It was immediately after he qualified what he meant was Robin better understood. He wasn’t exactly complaining at all, rather it’s the lack of sleep that made him say that.

Still, most people won’t allow Robin to string them along. “Kakulangan sa tulog” is nothing new and peculiar about his senatorial function.

As an actor for many years, Robin is perceived to be the last person–if unlikely one–to be whining about it.

Doing films are normally “pa-morning-an.” In his particular case, Robin’s physical energy gets sapped what with the “buwis-buhay” action stunts.

Also, running for the third highest office in the land in 2022 was nobody’s decision but Robin’s–so why complain considering he even topped the race?

Despite the tireless bashings aimed at testing the extent of his “ka-astigan,” Robin won’t step down. By hook or by crook, he tells his bashers he’s going to finish his term until 2028.

From hereon, we will all keep Robin’s firm resolve.

To finish his term and not to seek reelection.
