Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla assured lawmakers that the ongoing investigation into the flood control anomaly will spare no one, even if it leads to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Remulla made the statement during the House Committee on Appropriations’ budget hearing when ACT Teachers Rep. Antonio Tinio asked about the progress of the probe into allegations raised by former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co and former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo. Both testified that Marcos Jr. allegedly ordered a ₱100‑billion insertion into the 2025 national budget.
Tinio reminded the panel that according to Co and Bernardo’s testimonies, several former officials close to Marcos Jr. were implicated in the issue: ex‑Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, ex‑Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, ex‑Undersecretary Adrian Bersamin, ex‑Education Secretary Trygve Olaivar, and ex‑Justice Undersecretary Jojo Cadiz.
Remulla stressed that his office is not merely making noise in the media but is carefully gathering evidence to ensure that no one under investigation can escape accountability. # (RRN)
