NBI Arrests Teenager for Online Enticement of Minors Through Roblox

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), through its Violence Against Women and Children Division (VAWCD), has arrested a 19-year-old male in Pampanga for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 11930, the “Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act.”

The arrest, carried out on June 30, stemmed from a referral by the Department of Justice – Office of Cybercrime regarding reports of online enticement of a child for the production of exploitative materials.

Investigators revealed that the suspect allegedly persuaded a minor to engage in sexual activity and send explicit images in exchange for Robux, the virtual currency used in the popular gaming platform Roblox.

Further digital forensics linked the suspect to multiple CyberTipline Reports involving the online enticement of children and the distribution of child sexual abuse materials across several accounts.

Record checks also disclosed a prior complaint filed by the mother of a 10-year-old victim, who alleged that the suspect befriended her child through Roblox, manipulated her into producing sexually explicit videos, and subjected her to coercion.

Armed with a Warrant to Search, Seize, and Examine Computer Data (WSSECD), NBI-VAWCD agents confiscated the suspect’s mobile device.

Forensic examination uncovered numerous exploitative materials stored therein. Operatives also discovered ongoing communication with another child, aged 12, whom the suspect was allegedly attempting to entice.

The suspect was subjected to inquest proceedings before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Pampanga on July 1 for the filing of criminal charges under RA 11930.

The NBI confirmed that further investigation and rescue operations are underway to identify and locate other possible victims connected to the suspect’s modus operandi.

The Bureau reiterated its commitment to intensifying its campaign against online sexual exploitation of children and urged the public to remain vigilant.
