London Climate Action Week sheds light on Rights of Nature

The Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature (GARN) spotlights the Rights of Nature movement to the London Climate Action Week in United Kingdom, from 20-28 June, 2026.

London Climate Action Week harnesses the unique power of London for global and local climate action. It mobilizes London’s unparalleled ecosystem of climate and non-climate organizations to accelerate global climate action and supports action in London to ensure it acts as a global climate leader.

It starts off with “Letters of the Earth” at the Globe theatre last June 21 (Sunday). There was a consultation on the Antartica Declaration and “from the ground up: grassroots power, rights of nature and climate justice on June 22 (Monday). Meanwhile, the Earth Law Center x Imp (act) Earth film festival: rights of nature showcase was an event itself for film, conversation and ecological reflection last June 23 (Tuesday). In addition, GARN also organized Field Notes from Around the world: Rights of Nature in Action.

There also parallel events during the London Climate Action week, during the opening it brought together Indigenous Peoples, local communities, allies, and partners to celebrate the journey and collective achievements. There was also beyond impact: 10 years of storytelling, capacity and change, for over 12 years, If Not Us Then Who? has supported Indigenous, local communities, and Afro-descendant communities through mentorship, residencies, and community-based training. Meet the global network of storytellers reshaping narratives from within their territories and bringing them to the global stage. During this dynamic and participatory conversation, we will also explore two new initiatives from If Not Us Then Who?: “A Day on Earth”, a global participatory feature documentary, and the opening of “Weaving the Heart Beyond the Map”, an immersive exhibition on Indigenous peoples in voluntary isolation, premiering at the Rights & Nature Hub.

Moreover, there was “ecologies of empowerment: moving from biodiversity youth funding insights to action,” “women on the frontline: stories, solutions and solidarity” and “ weaving the heart beyond the map: indigenous peoples living in voluntary isolation.” # (RANDY NOBLEZA)
