Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea Rear Admiral Jay Tarriela described Chinese Ambassador Jing Quan as a “crazy ambassador,” accusing the envoy of using social media posts that undermine Filipinos’ rights and dignity.
Speaking on the One PH program Sa Totoo Lang, Tarriela said a simple apology from Jing would not be enough to address what he viewed as repeated insults toward Filipinos.
“We deserve more than that. An apology, with the doubling of the efforts na pangmamaliit ng isang dayuhan na hino-host natin dito sa Pinas, I think a mere apology is no longer enough,” Tarriela said.
“With this kind of behavior of this crazy ambassador, I think we should really ask for more na magagawa rito,” he added.
Despite his criticism, Tarriela said he hopes and prays that Jing would stop making such remarks, return to what he described as a normal mindset, and end what he called rude behavior on social media.
Tarriela said it would be up to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Malacañang to determine what actions, if any, should be taken against the Chinese ambassador.# (RRN)
