House prosecutor Joel Chua challenged the defense panel to file a motion for demurrer to evidence if they believe the prosecution’s case against Vice President Sara Duterte is weak.
A demurrer to evidence is a legal move by the accused’s camp asking the court to dismiss a case on grounds of insufficient evidence.
Chua argued that the defense only objected to the prosecution’s withdrawal of three impeachment articles because one article remained.
“Kung yung apat na article drinop namin, oh di acquitted ang vice president. Sa tingin niyo kokontra sila? Nagkataon lang na may natirang isa kaya sila kumokontra,”Chua said on One News’ Sa Totoo Lang.
He added: “Hinahamon ko nga sila bago pa itong dropping na to, mag-file ng demurrer. Sinasabi ‘nung ilang magagaling diyan, wala naman daw kaming naipakitang ebidensiya sa bawat article. Eh bakit hindi kayo mag file ng demurrer to evidence?”# (RRN)
