EMBATTLED Bamban Mayor Alice Guo may not be a Filipino after all amid what he aptly described as spurious documents filed by his pure-blooded Chinese father, says Senator Sherwin Gatchalian moments after the Senate hearing which lasted for four grueling hours.
In an interview with Senate reporters, Gatchalian took a swipe at the inconsistencies in Guo’s birth certificate, which he claims to be full of lies amid the lax government process in the late registration and the absence of any government record that would prove its validity.
“Una muna yung mga nakita ko doon, malaking posibilidad na si Mayor Guo ay hindi sya Pilipino dahil ang kanyang birth certificate ay galing sa tatay nya na nagsinungaling at ang kanyang impormasyon doon ay di rin consistent dahil napakaluwag ng proseso sa late registration magsabi ka lang kung ano ang nasa isip mo,” Gatchalian said.
According to Gatchalian, the leniency of the Philippine late registration process at the time the mayor was registered allowed anybody to deceive in the information declared in the form for whatever purpose it may serve.
“Mag-declare ka lang kung ano ang tingin mo makaka benepisyo sa iyo, yun na ang ilalagay mo sa late registration mo. Pero makikita natin ang birth certificate marami kang pwedeng puntahan. Isa na dito pwede kang maging kandidato. Kaya kung merong mga taong may balak pumasok sa pulitika o may balak patakbuhin sa pulitika, pwede silang pumasok via late registration.”
He added that the persons who supposedly filed the Guo’s registration could not be located, for which he believed that the names were not real persons.
“Ito ang isa sa nakikita kong problema kaya nakaisyu ng birth certificate na puro na hindi mahanap saan ang tao.”
Aside from the spurious birth certificate that Guo submitted, the legislator also finds the supposed marriage certificate between Angelito Guo whom the Bamban mayor claims to be his Chinese national biological father and that of her “mother” Amelia Leal were not even in government files.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has denied the existence of the marriage contract of Guo’s supposed parents.
“Hindi Pilipino ang naka-declare doon. Ni yung marriage yung pagkakakasal nila, walang dokumento na magpapatunay na kasal si Angelito Guo at si Amelia Guo. At si Amelia Guo walang birth certificate, ibig sabihin hindi siya ipinanganak sa Pilipinas, walang ganun na tao sa ating bansa.”
Under existing laws, children of two foreign nationals could not possibly be registered as Filipino citizens.
He also branded Guo’s life story posted on her Facebook account as more of a storytelling.
“May pinost kasi siya sa kanyang Facebook, yung kanyang parang talambuhay, kwento niya yan. Pwede siyang gumawa kung anong gusto niyang i-kwento para idipensa o i-justify ang kanyang pagkukulang sa dokumento. Pero ang dokumento ang pinakamahalaga.”
Amid lies and fake documents hounding Guo, Gatchalian said that she is likely to be cited for contempt for which the mayor could be detained. (ANGEL F. JOSE)
