Marcos to Villar-owned SIPCOR: Honor your commitments or terminate the agreement

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. emphasized that the Villar-owned Siquijor Island Power Cooperative (SIPCOR) must fulfill its obligations under the power supply agreement with the Province of Siquijor Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PROSIELCO), or else the contract should be terminated.

Marcos Jr. previously mandated a comprehensive legal review and audit of the agreement between SIPCOR and PROSIELCO, as he pledged to hold accountable those responsible for the power crisis in Siquijor.

“Rine-review na namin. Pero like any contract, kung non-compliant ka, that breaks the contract,” the President said.

Nevertheless, the President stated that the government’s primary focus is to resolve the power issues in the province, which have adversely impacted residents and the tourism-dependent economy.

He mentioned that authorities have deployed two power generators to the province to provide a temporary solution to the power deficit.

Marcos instructed that a lasting resolution to the power crisis must be established in Siquijor within a six-month timeframe. (ZIA LUNA)
