On Independence Day, Health Alliance for Democracy (HEAD) joins various groups in condemning efforts to block justice and accountability.

In a statement, HEAD criticizes the Senate for remanding the impeachment articles against Vice President Sara Duterte to the House, delaying the trial and enabling obstacles to the proceedings. The House deferred acceptance of the articles, demanding Senate clarifications.

HEAD denounces these legislative maneuvers, calling them unacceptable.

Senator Bato De la Rosa’s proposal to dismiss the complaint without trial further insults the Filipino people, who suffer economic hardships while corrupt officials evade justice.

VP Duterte was impeached for grave constitutional violations, including alleged misuse of confidential funds, and the people demand her conviction.

HEAD holds the Marcos Jr. administration accountable for delaying the impeachment and failing to address corruption.

It urges health workers and the public to oppose bureaucratic capitalism and fight for justice.

HEAD remains committed to prosecuting corrupt officials and ensuring public funds serve the people, striving for a truly just and democratic society.

“Our commitment to serve the Filipino people compels us to rise up with the people and demand justice and accountability. We will continue to push for the prosecution of the corrupt and plunderers, as we demand that public funds be used exclusively for social services and for the benefit of the Filipino people. We will not rest until we realize a truly healthy, just and democratic society,” the group concluded. (ZIA LUNA)
