President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has instructed the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles to provide assistance to Filipinos affected by ongoing immigration protests in the U.S., Malacañang announced Tuesday. The Palace continues to monitor the situation closely.
The Philippine Consulate has advised Filipinos in Los Angeles to remain vigilant and avoid protest areas as demonstrations escalate across the county.
Authorities confirmed that at least one Filipino national was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Los Angeles. However, they clarified that his arrest was due to prior felony convictions and was not connected to the widely publicized Home Depot raid that sparked the protests.
Malacañang also reminded Filipinos to adhere to the laws of the countries where they reside and work.
(ZIA LUNA)
