Fuel prices are set to increase for the second consecutive week, with companies announcing a hefty hike for the first week of April.
For the period April 1 to 7, 2025, gasoline prices will jump by P1.40 per liter, following last week’s P1.10/L hike.
Diesel will see another increase of P1.20 per liter, piling on top of the previous P0.40/L uptick. Meanwhile, kerosene prices will also climb by P1.20 per liter.
Oil firms, including Shell Pilipinas, Seaoil, and Caltex have confirmed these price hikes.
Cleanfuel and Petro Gazz will enforce the same price hikes, except for kerosene, which they do not offer.
The increases take effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, except for Cleanfuel, which will implement the adjustments at 4:01 p.m.
With these hikes in place, gasoline and diesel prices will have surged by P3.25/L since the start of 2025, while kerosene will have seen a net drop of P0.30/L.
Last week, gasoline prices in Metro Manila ranged from ₱57.40 to ₱67.15 per liter, while diesel hovered between ₱53.90 and ₱56.90 per liter.
Kerosene reached ₱70.67 per liter.
The Department of Energy – Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) had earlier predicted a significant fuel price hike this week, citing U.S. sanctions on Iran, potential tariffs on countries purchasing Venezuelan crude, and ongoing Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy sites. (TCSP)
