Bayan Muna will offer flowers at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani to remember the heroes who sacrificed their lives, sweat, talents, and skills to fight the Marcos dictatorship that led to the EDSA uprising, 39 years ago,” said former Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo.
As the nation commemorates the 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Uprising it is crucial to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who valiantly opposed the tyranny of the Marcos regime. Their courage and commitment to democracy should serve as an inspiration for the youth of today.
“Sa paggunita sa EDSA, dapat nating alalahanin at ipaalam sa kabataan ang tunay na kasaysayan ng batas militar. Kailangan nating itaguyod ang kaalaman at pagkilos ng kabataan para sa tama at makatarungan,” emphasized Satur Ocampo.
The events surrounding the EDSA Uprising remind us of the power of collective action and the importance of standing up for what is right, especially in the face of corruption, economic challenges, and governance failures that continue to plague our society.
“Let us reignite the spirit of democracy and uphold the values of justice and good governance. The fight against corruption is not just a political duty but a moral imperative that necessitates the active participation of all sectors of society,” added Ocampo.
We must unite to demand justice and reforms, it is crucial to amplify the call for accountability and transparency in governance. The three key messages of “Marcos Singilin! Duterte Panagutin! Sara I-Convict!” resonate with the need for holding public officials accountable for their actions.
“Ang EDSA ay paalala na ang kapangyarihan ng mamamayan ay tunay at totoo. Ngayon ang panahon upang ibalik natin ang kapangyarihang ito at siguruhing mananaig ang prinsipyo ng demokrasya, katarungan, at mabuting pamamahala sa ating bansa,” Ocampo reiterated.
