Senate President Chiz Escudero remained mum on Tuesday, February 04, about House Secretary General Reginald Velasco’s announcement that the impeachment complaints would be forwarded to the Office of Speaker Martin Romualdez this week.
This, as Escudero said there is no formal communication from the House of Representatives regarding the status or progress of the impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte.
In an interview with reporters, Escudero said he would not speculate or preempt any discussions about the possibility of addressing the impeachment complaints while Congress is in recess.
“Ayoko magkomentaryo sa haka-haka. Hintayin ko dumating sa amin kung darating sa amin,” Escudero said.
“Magkokomentaryo ako pag nasa amin na. Pero habang wala pa, hindi para sa amin na komentaryuhan pa yan,” he added.
Velasco said yesterday, February 04, that they will act this week on the three existing impeachment complaints against Duterte.
Congress is set to resume for a week before adjourning on February 7 to allow for the campaign period and the preparations for the May 2025 midterm elections. (TCSP)
