Motorists can finally breathe a sigh of relief as pump prices will decrease on Tuesday, January 28, marking the year’s first fuel price rollback after three consecutive weeks of increases.
Major oil retailers such as Shell Pilipinas, Seaoil, and CleanFuel announced that gasoline prices would decline by P0.80 per liter for the period January 28 to February 3, 2025, following weeks of P1/L+ increases.
Diesel will see a slight rollback of P0.20/L and kerosene will decrease by P0.50/L.
The price adjustments will begin at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, for most companies, while Cleanfuel will implement the rollback at 8:01 a.m. the same day.
Last week, oil companies increased gasoline prices by P1.65 per liter, diesel by P2.70 per liter, and kerosene by P2.50 per liter.
After these adjustments, gasoline prices will have increased by P2.65/L and diesel by P4.80/L since the start of 2025, while kerosene will see a net increase of P3.80/L.
The Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) earlier forecasted a drop in fuel prices due to the reopening of refineries and ports in the US Gulf Coast, along with the proposed tariffs by US President Donald Trump. (TCSP)
