When Liza Soberano was discovered through Facebook by talent scout, the late Dudu Unay, she was nothing short of a very frail teen wanting to carve a niche in showbiz.
Plucked from anonymity by Dudu, she got herself an introductory soap opera in ABS-CBN.
For more than two years, she was an obedient new entrant in showbiz, following orders to the hilt.
But soon, impatience reared its ugly head, leaving Dudu to seek help. There came Ogie Diaz. In no time, Dudu was left out and Ogie became Liza’s manager, with Dudu relegated to being the actress’ road manager.
Liza, impatient that she really is, also left Ogie’s management and went to James Reid’s talent management, Careless Philippines.
She then went on to pursue an acting career in Hollywood via a movie, Lisa Frankenstein, where she played a cheerleader.
The movie bomb at the box office, with Liza groping in Hollywood dark.
Again, impatient that she is, Liza also left James’ management and got herself managed now by Wild, a management company based in Singapore.
Now, Liza has become a starlet still, after being in showbusiness for ten years, without a clear career path.
Gymnast Carlos Yulo came to public adulation when he snagged two gold medals at Paris Olympics.
He soon became a household name, raking in more than a hundred million pesos in the process as cash rewards.
With fame, Carlos was drowned with his newfound success. This resulted in his act of snobbery to hid his family which stemmed from money. He alleged that his mom squandered his money when he was not yet a champion gymnast.
All that he functions to now is a loyal boyfriend to his girlfriend and he no longer is the obedient son he was once.
In all his success, Carlos has turned deaf ear to public pleas for reconciliation with his family.
His father and brother’s request to make amends to his mom was deliberately snubbed by him.
Liza and Carlos are the new faces of ingratitude. They are living examples that they are ready to turn their backs to people who guided them through when they were nobodies.
