The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board approved a P3.8-billion Philippine Civil Service Modernization (PCSM) to enhance the human resource information systems across government agencies.
In an episode of Malacañang Insider earlier this week, NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan highlighted that this project is crucial for advancing human resource management processes within the public sector.
“The public sector employs nearly two million individuals who are essential to the provision of public services. If the system lacks efficiency, and government agencies are not interconnected, we cannot optimize our service delivery,” Balisacan said.
“By implementing new technologies, the project will automate and digitalize processes to enhance efficiency, leading to better coordination and response times, more accurate payroll processing, and streamlined recruitment and onboarding,” Balisacan added.
The Board also approved an increase in cost and an extension of both the implementation period and loan validity for the Metro Manila Priority Bridges Seismic Improvement Project (MMPBSIP). This project aims to enhance the safety and resilience of two key bridges in the National Capital Region.
The MMPBSIP will improve the seismic resilience of Metro Manila’s transportation network by replacing, retrofitting, and reinforcing the Guadalupe Bridge and the Lambingan Bridge.
The total cost of the project will rise by P2.41 billion (30.33 percent), from P7.93 billion to P10.34 billion.
Additionally, decisions were confirmed ad referendum regarding the upgrade, expansion, operation, and maintenance of both the Bohol-Panglao International Airport and the Laguindingan International Airport.
The airport is an international gateway in Northern Mindanao, serving the cities of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, and Marawi, as well as the provinces of Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, and Bukidnon.
“Upon the end of the challenge period for the Laguindingan airport, if there is no challenger, the project is expected to be awarded by the end of September. Meanwhile, if there is a challenge placed, the award of the project is expected to be made by mid of December this year,” Balisacan said. (TCSP)
