President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. told the government officials on Thursday, June 20, not to waste what his government has already started and uphold their commitment to serving the Filipino people.

Marcos said this at the distribution of presidential assistance to farmers, fisherfolk, and families in Surigao del Sur after Vice President Sara Duterte resigned from her Cabinet posts yesterday, June 19.

In his speech, Marcos said his administration will continue to address the challenges faced by the nation.

He added that continuing to implement programs and policies will directly benefit the Filipino people.

The President said his administration will improve the education and healthcare sector in the Caraga region, citing significant investments made in these crucial sectors.

In Duterte’s speech in the Department of Education’s central office in Pasig yesterday, June 19, she mentioned how DepEd improved while she was in charge.

Duterte said that the new “Matatag” Education Curriculum would be used across the country for the first time when schools resume on July 29.

She also mentioned that progress had been made in getting textbooks and other learning materials for the new curriculum.

Besides that, she said that 305 schools were connected through fiber and 2,000 were connected through satellite technology.

Duterte also talked about the programs she made for teachers, such as the National Educator’s Academy, the elimination of administrative duties, the provision of personal accident insurance, and a 30-day break from work that can be required or chosen.

She said she would keep an eye on every teacher and student and fight for a “stronger Philippines” now that she is no longer the Education Secretary. (TCSP)
