The PhilHealth advisory posted Sunday, June 14, drew sharp criticism after a viral social media post alleged that a deceased member was denied assistance for a ₱200,000 hospital bill because confinement lasted less than 24 hours.
According to the Facebook post, the member was left without benefits due to the agency’s rule requiring more than a day of hospitalization.
Netizens rejected PhilHealth’s explanation that the said case had already been addressed and that coordination with hospitals was ongoing to review the circumstances.
