Lawmaker slams Marcos for ‘normal’ view amid crisis

Kamanggagawa Party-list Rep. Eli San Fernando criticized President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for suggesting that the situation remains “normal” despite soaring fuel and commodity prices, saying it is alarming that the Chief Executive is still studying when to use the emergency powers granted by Congress.

“The problem is, the President believes that everything is normal. That is really alarming. Nothing is normal about the situation. Walang normal sa nangyayari ngayon. Ang problema mismong pangulo nagsabi: pag-aaralan pa o titignan pa,” San Fernando said in an interview on Sa Totoo Lang on One PH.

He pressed Marcos to act immediately: “Mr. President, ano pa ho bang pag-aaral ang gagawin ninyo? Gusto niyo ho, bigyan pa kayo ng panahon para makapag-aral? Makita anong impact nito?”

San Fernando stressed that the crisis is already evident: “The reality, nakasambulat na sa mga mata natin: hirap na hirap na ang mga manggagawang drayber, mga tsuper at ordinaryong Pilipino. Antayin ho ba natin matapos pa yung sigalot sa Gitnang Silangan?”

The lawmaker questioned what Marcos is waiting for, warning of a looming “national security crisis.”

“The question is: Ano pa hong inaantay ng pangulong Bongbong Marcos? This is a national security crisis waiting to explode. So, Mr. President, nasa inyo po ang bola. Tingin ho namin kayo ay misinformed about the gravity of the situation,” he added. # (RRN)
