After winning in the Pinoy Big Brother,  Maymay Entrata explored the many facets of showbiz – dancing, acting, hosting, and singing.  In the end, she found her niche in music.

“Nag-invest po ako. I invested in all sa field like acting, dancing, and singing pinaka last po. Nauna yung acting,” Maymay said in a video interview.

She even went to Canada to study acting but “I kind of find it hard to embrace.”

Acting is something which she didn’t enjoy even though “alam ko naman kung paano umiyak, kung paano mag’focus sa character na hindi nadadawit “yung personal kong buhay.”

Same with dancing which she also tried.

“Nag-try ako mga dancing sessions, nagdadance na ako pero hindi ako masaya,” she revealed.

With obvious hesitance, Maymay initially veered away from singing because she lacked confidence.

“Noong 2021, I almost gave up po. I almost [said] bye bye sa industry po kasi I don’t know what I want and I’m not happy what I’m doing dito sa industry,” she said.

“Sabi ko, ‘I should be grateful’ so I kept on trying, learning and investing talaga tapos umabot “yung 2021 ba medyo mapapagod ka kakahanap,” she added.

Until  ABS-CBN Music head Roxy Liquigan convinced her to try singing.

“Nakausap ko si Sir Roxy. Sabi nila, ‘Give music a chance. Wala kaming biro talaga na may potential ka talaga’ Sabi pa nila, ‘Gagawa tayo ng isang pop song,’” Maymay  revealed.

Not about to jump on the opportunity, Maymay asked for a meeting.  Ultimately, this resulted in the recording of  “lAmakabogera which became a big hit to music lovers.

“I wanted my song po that comes from an inspiration kung ano iyong pinagdaanan ko ngayon. After a month, ayon po nabuo ang ‘Amakabogera,’” Maymay said.

“Naiiyak ako kasi ‘yung song parang message na siya for me. Hindi na lang siya pop song. Galing siya sa puso ko,” she added.

Getting out of her comfort zone gave Maymay success.

“All you have to do is keep on trying talaga until you find what suits for you and what’s your passion po, what makes you happy. You can learn everything pala as long as you are committed talaga, 100 percent that you wanted to learn,” she said. (NIGEL CHAVEZ DE ESTRADA)
