WHERE DID ALL THE 2024 INTELLIGENCE FUNDS OF PRESIDENT BONGBONG MARCOS GOES?

The recent controversies surrounding ex-mayor Alice Guo have once again highlighted the deep-seated issues of corruption within our bureaucratic institutions—issues that are supposed to uphold the integrity of our Filipino identity and bolster national security. The apparent failure of these institutions to effectively manage and rectify such cases not only undermines public trust but also exposes vulnerabilities that could be exploited by malicious entities. Equally concerning is the seeming indifference of the Senate and President Bongbong Marcos. The lack of decisive action from the highest levels of government exacerbates public frustration especially after knowing that up until now Pastor Quiboloy remain at large, and for almost a month based on the report of the Bureau of Immigration, Ex-Mayor Alice Guo already fled out of the country. The Filipino people are rightfully demanding transparency regarding the President’s confidential fund for 2024, amounting to a staggering 4.5 billion pesos.

This substantial allocation demands rigorous scrutiny to ensure it serves the national interest and is not misappropriated. The Senate’s responsibility to investigate the management of these intelligence funds is paramount especially its already a period deliberation for 2025 National Budget. Yet, the cases of ex-mayor Guo and Pastor Quiboloy remain unresolved, casting doubt on the Senate’s commitment to justice and accountability. The public deserves clarity on how their money is being utilized, and the Senate must rise to the occasion to deliver this.

Moreover, the mainstream media’s silence is deafening. Their apparent reluctance to hold the Marcos administration and members of the Congress accountable, especially concerning failed multi-billion peso projects like flood control, raises questions about media independence and integrity. As the Fourth Estate, the media has a duty to the public to pursue the truth and uncover political misconduct without fear or favor.

The Filipino people deserve nothing less than full transparency and accountability from their leaders. The current political climate, shrouded in obfuscation, is unacceptable. Citizens must demand an end to political smoke and mirrors and insist on clear, honest governance. As we approach the 2025 elections, these issues should serve as a scorecard for voters. It is crucial that the electorate remains vigilant and informed, holding leaders accountable for their actions and decisions.

The call for accountability and transparency in Philippine governance is not just a moral imperative—it is a fundamental requirement for a healthy democracy. Only through active citizen engagement, a vigilant press, and leaders who prioritize the public good over personal interests can we hope to build a nation that upholds the values of integrity, honesty, and justice.
