Commodore Jay Tristan Tarriela, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spokesperson on the West Philippine Sea said in his twitter post that we need to double our efforts in educating our youth because they are our hope in continuing our fight for our sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction in the West Philippine Sea.
He spoke about the issue infront of the students of the University of Batangas for engaging the discussion regarding our fight for the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
“Maraming salamat, @UBatangas, for the engaging discussion regarding our fight for the West Philippine Sea. Our transparency efforts now extend to universities and schools to widen our reach and educate the Filipino youth about the government’s efforts in the WPS and the significance of publicizing the illegal presence, provocative behavior, and bullying tactics of the People’s Republic of China”.
He said, “We need to double our efforts in educating our youth”.
He added, “I will always allocate time to do this because, as we hold the line, they need to understand that they are the reason why this fight must be sustained dahil ang yaman ng West Philippine Sea ay para sa susunod na salinglahi ng Pilipino!”.
It will be recalled that Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) made headlines after it repeatedly fired high-pressure water cannons in several instances against Philippine patrol vessels and other Filipino civilian missions near the disputed Scarborough Shoal which is within the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
