House Assistant Minority Leader and Gabriela Women’s Party Representative Arlene Brosas refuted Vice President Sara Duterte’s claims that the Makabayan bloc held meetings with House Speaker Martin Romualdez regarding an impeachment move against the Vice President.
“Her conspiracy theory about our alleged alliance with Speaker Romualdez is just a tactic to divert the public’s attention from the negative publicity she has been receiving for acting like a ‘bratinella’,” Rep. Brosas said.
The lawmaker stressed that VP Duterte had been given numerous opportunities during the budget deliberations to explain her office’s budget utilization and proposals, but she repeatedly refused.
“Very ‘delulu’ ang ganitong mga alegasyon ni VP Sara. She was given ample chances to explain her budget proposal to the public. Lawmakers were patient, even though it was clear she did not want to answer the people’s questions,” Rep. Brosas continued.
Rep. Brosas said that VP Sara Duterte shouldn’t pin the blame on Makabayan bloc for her failure to adhere to legal and ethical standards in public office.
“If her budget is slashed or if she faces an impeachment complaint, it’s justified because not once did she defend her office’s budget or address the public about the misuse of confidential funds. Kaya wag niya kami sisihin – kasalanan niya yun,” Rep. Brosas concluded. #
