Now it can be told. It was Teresa Loyzaga who got her son Diego Loyzaga admitted in a rehab facility.
In an interview with Tito Boy Abunda in Fast Talk With Boy Abunda, Treresa revealed that she was the one who got Diego in a rehabilitation center several years ago when he got hooked on drugs.
Teresa blamed herself when that happened because “I wasn’t always there, even if I try to be always be there. I just couldn’t.”
“Somebody had to work. Somebody had to put on the table. Sonebody had to put a roof under their head. Somebody had to put them to school,” she explained.
“Yun ang sitwasyon namin so I dealt with it, the best way I could,” she said.
The veteran actress said that she asked for Diego’s permission to talk about his rehab stint.
“To be honest, my son was here and I did ask him, I’m gonna be speaking about it, with his permission. I think what the people do not know is I put him to rehab. I put him to rehab. There’s a part of me that died, but I wanted my son to live, so I had to put him to rehab,” she revealed.
Teresa admitted that Diego got mad at her initially because “he wasn’t himself then.”
“We have to understand na ‘yung mga mahal natin sa buhay pagka malulong sa droga, kapag kinausap mo sila at binabastos ka nila, hindi sila ‘yun. Gamot ‘yun,” the veteran actress said.
“Noong nawala lahat ‘yun, bumalik ‘yung anak ko dahil naintindihan niya and ala mo, ang tagal naming hindi magkita. Ang hindi rin niya alam, bumibisita ako parati sa kanya kahit na bawal kaming magkita. That was part of his punishment for him to learn,” she revealed. (NIGEL CHAVEZ DE ESTRADA)
