Super typhoon exits but new LPA spotted – PAGASA

WHILE Filipinos have yet to pick up the shattered pieces of what is left after super typhoon Carina wreaked havoc, comes another low pressure (LPA) area spotted 985 kilometers east of southeastern Mindanao.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the new LPA has yet to affect any part of the country even as the weather bureau predicts the prevalence of rains and gusty winds for which an advisory was released over possible flash floods and landslides.

Monsoon rains will prevail over Ilocos Region, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan, and occasional rains will occur in Metro Manila, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country.

Strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are expected in the northern and western sections of Luzon, as well as moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters for the rest of the Philippines. (ANGEL F. JOSE)
