The Senate has denied Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa’s request to allow his family to use the Senate Mansion in Baguio City later this month.
Senate Secretary Mark Llandro Mendoza said policy requires the senator’s presence if the official residence is to be occupied, adding that a formal reply will be sent to Dela Rosa.
In a letter dated March 12, Dela Rosa asked Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III to permit his family’s stay at the mansion from March 26–29, 2026, during the Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Cup.
The Senate Secretary’s office received the request the same day.
Dela Rosa has not appeared in the chamber for four months, following reports that the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against him in November 2025 for alleged crimes against humanity linked to former president Rodrigo Duterte’s drug war.
He has since been stripped of nearly all committee memberships and faces an ethics complaint from watchdog group “Wag Kang KuCorrupt” over his status as an “absentee senator.” (ZIA LUNA)
