FROM how it looks, the saga behind the real identity would soon come to an end as the Senate digs up more proof which tends to manifest Bamban Mayor Alice Guo isn’t a Filipino after all.
This comes as Senator Risa Hontiveros presented a document from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) which had two women named Alice Leal Guo born on exactly the same date in the same province where the controversial mayor claims she spent her teenage years.
During the Senate inquiry over the POGO hub for which she has been dragged as an “enabler,” two Alice Leal Guos declared Tarlac as their place of birth.
“Is it a coincidence na may dalawang Alice Leal Guo na pinanganak on July 12, 1986, sa Tarlac? Is it a coincidence that this NBI clearance was applied for just a few days before the date of filing of the delayed registration of birth of the other Alice Leal Guo in Tarlac City? Or is this a case of stolen identity?” a whimsical Hontiveros wondered.
According to Hontiveros, there is a probability that the name being used by the Bamban mayor may have been stolen from the original Alice Leal Guo.
“Has Guo Haping assumed the identity of a Filipino woman and then nearly a decade later, ran for public office? Sino po ang babaeng ito na may pangalang Alice Leal Guo pero hindi kamukha ni Mayor? Nasaan na po siya ngayon?” the senator averred.
Previously, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian came out with documents for which he believed that a woman by the name of Guo Hua Ping who came to the Philippines on January 12, 2003 and the woman who was elected mayor of Bamban town are one and the same person.
Citing documents obtained from the Board of Investments, Gatchalian also took note of how Chinese nationals have been migrating in batches in the Philippines.
The same document, he added, pertains to the Guo family’s application for a Special Investors Resident Visa (SIRV).
“Alice Guo might be Guo Hua Ping who entered the Philippines on January 12, 2003 when she was 13 years old. Her real birth date is on Aug 31, 1990,” Gatchalian said.
In view of the new documents she obtained, Hontiveros requested the NBI for the biometrics of Guo Hua Ping and Mayor Alice Guo to compare their fingerprints.
“Bakit kailangan ni Guo Hua Ping nakawin ang pagkatao ni Miss Alice Leal Guo kung mayroon na siyang validly issued investor’s visa na pinahihintulutan siya mamalagi dito?”
Interestingly, Hontiveros could only hope for an answer as Guo was not present during Wednesday’s hearing. According to her lawyer Stephen David, she could not attend the hearing because she was “sick and stressed.” (ANGEL F. JOSE)
