Sara Duterte: No regrets over kill plot remarks vs. Marcos family

Vice President Sara Duterte said on Wednesday, December 11, that she has no regrets about publicly discussing the kill plot against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his family.

The Vice President made the remarks in a press briefing after she admitted last month that she asked someone to kill Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez if she gets killed.

“No, buti na ‘yung alam nila na ‘pag namatay ako, I will not die in vain,” Duterte said when asked if she regretted unveiling the plan.

“I’m at peace with whatever happens to me,” Duterte added.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has initiated an inquiry into Duterte’s statements, issuing a second subpoena for her to appear at its office on Wednesday, December 11.

Despite this, Duterte did not personally attend the NBI proceedings as she attended a thanksgiving party that the Office of the Vice President organized for the media.

Instead, her lawyer, Paul Lim, appeared on her behalf and submitted a letter explaining her absence and denying the allegations.

With speculation mounting over her potential run in the 2028 presidential elections, Duterte also addressed concerns about ongoing attacks from the current administration, which she views as attempts to discredit her.

“Alam ko simula pa lang. Wala lang din sa akin yun kasi lahat naman puwede tumakbong presidente,” Duterte said.

“Ang hindi ko lang inexpect na gagamitin mo yung buong gobyerno para sirain yung isang tao,” Duterte added.

Two impeachment complaints have been lodged against Vice President Sara Duterte in the House of Representatives.

The first, backed by Akbayan Party-list Representative Perci Cendaña, was filed by advocacy groups citing accusations of corruption, bribery, betrayal of public trust, and other serious offenses.

The second complaint, endorsed by the progressive Makabayan bloc, was submitted by over 70 representatives from various sectors. It accuses Duterte of betraying public trust, particularly in relation to the alleged misuse of confidential funds. (TCSP)
