Comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto surprised everyone today when she surrendered voluntarily upon the advice of her lawyer, Atty. Mary Louise Reyes.
Rufa Mae surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) after a warrant for her arrest issued by a court in Pasay.
The comedienne arrived 5 a.m. with her family in a Philippine Airlines flight from San Francisco, California.
In an online website report, it said that the actress’ lawyer, Atty. Reyes coordinated the surrender with NAIA-NBI Chief Jimmy De Leon. Before Rufa Mae was brought to a Pasay court, she went through the customary aid Quinto’s lawyer coordinated with the NBI medico-legal examination.
Rufa Mae faces cases related to Dermacare, a beauty product and services company that she endorses. It was the same company that celebrity entrepreneur Misis Neri Naig also had a problem with which led to her arrest. She has since been released.
Atty. Reyes, Rufa Mae’s lawyer, said in a previous statement that her client will post bail for the d 14 counts of violation of Section 8 of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Atty. Reyes stated Rufa Mae’s voluntary surrender.
Nananawagan at nakikiusap po kami sa publiko at sa mga media, let’s avoid rushing to judgment based on inaccurate and incomplete information.
The comedienne posted PHP1.7 million bail for her in temporary liberty.
“I don’t know if I have to say this, pero nabayaran po ng downpayment si Rufa Mae.
“We’ve been trying to get in touch with other parties involved, pero pagdating po kay Rufa Mae at Atty. (NIGEL CHAVEZ DE ESTRADA)
