Road Improvements Contribute to More Efficient, Safer Transport Infra in Maria Aurora, Aurora

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has drastically improved travelling in the Municipality of Maria Aurora in Aurora Province by upgrading a road in the area.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino and DPWH Aurora District Engineer Roderick A. Andal identified the improved road as the A. Castañeda – Ma. Aurora – San Luis Road.

According to Secretary Bonoan, the project includes asphalt overlaying and provision of concrete shoulders along the 2.07-kilometer road section in Barangay Sto. Tomas to ensure that the road is well-maintained and can cater to the pedestrians and the motoring public.

The enhanced road now lessens the likelihood of road accidents, minimizes vehicle wear and tear, and improves the overall aesthetic appeal of the community of Barangay Sto. Tomas is one of the many communities travelers need to pass before reaching Aurora’s capital town of Baler.

“This preventive maintenance works, like the one completed along the A. Castañeda – Ma. Aurora – San Luis Road, is part of DPWH effort for efficient road connectivity through construction and maintenance,” said Secretary Bonoan.

Completed in the amount of P56.57 million, the preventive maintenance project was implemented under the DPWH Asset Preservation Program with funding sourced from the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA). (ANTONIO)
