In light of the recent arrest of fugitive televangelist Apollo Quiboloy, ACT Teachers Partylist Representative and House Deputy Minority Leader France Castro urges the Philippine government to hold Quiboloy accountable for his alleged crimes and ensure he is prosecuted in the country.
“The arrest of Apollo Quiboloy must lead to his full accountability before the law. The charges against him, both in the United States and the Philippines, are grave and demand thorough investigation and prosecution,” Rep. France Castro stated. “Justice must be served for the victims of these heinous acts.”
Rep. Castro also pointed out the need to investigate those who have protected Quiboloy from facing justice. “We call for an investigation into his number one protector and all those who have enabled his evasion from justice. The rule of law must prevail, and no one should be above it.”
Quiboloy, who has been charged with sex trafficking and other serious offenses, was recently apprehended, as announced by Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. on social media. Quiboloy’s alleged conditions for surrender, requesting assurances against American interference, were dismissed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as irrelevant.
“While Quiboloy seeks conditions to avoid extradition, his focus should be on facing the charges against him and cooperating with the judicial process both here and abroad. The victims deserve justice, and the process should be transparent and without foreign intervention,” Rep. Castro emphasized.
Rep. Castro concludes by urging the justice system to expedite the legal proceedings and ensure that all parties involved face the consequences of their actions. “The Filipino people demand justice, and it is imperative that we act swiftly and decisively.”#
