Radio Host Nicole Hyala Faces Thyroid Cancer Diagnosis with Faith and Courage

Beloved radio personality Nicole Hyala has revealed her diagnosis of thyroid cancer, delivering the news not with fear, but with her signature resilience and warmth.

In a deeply personal video shared on social media, Nicole addressed her listeners with calm determination. “Surprisingly, I am calm,” she said, adding that experts often refer to thyroid cancer as the “friendliest” form of the disease. “That’s good, because I’ve already been through worse.”

Known for her candidness and humor, Nicole opened up about the trials she’s weathered long before this diagnosis—challenges that, as she puts it, “broke” her, “nearly crushed” her, but never took her smile.

“I’ve survived storms that could’ve drowned me, and this is just another wave I know I can ride, with God beside me,” she shared on her radio program.

The diagnosis, she said, wasn’t in her life plan—but she believes it is part of God’s. With unshakable faith, she trusts that the same divine strength that carried her through past valleys will carry her through this one, too.

In a moment that blended grit with grace, Nicole addressed her illness directly: “Thyroid cancer. You’re just another name and I have faith in the One who’s above all names. So let’s do this… Mali ka ng kinalaban. Wag ako.”

Nicole is scheduled to undergo thyroid surgery, or a thyroidectomy, this July.
