Surigao del Sur 2nd District Representative Alexander Pimentel denounced the fatal shooting of a radio broadcaster in Bislig City on Monday, pledging a ₱1 million bounty for any tip that leads to the arrest of those responsible.

Erwin Labitad Segovia, 63, known on-air as “Boy Pana,” was gunned down in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, on the morning of July 21.

Segovia hosted DIRITSAHAN!, a popular WOW FM radio show tackling local governance, social issues, and community concerns.

According to the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS), Segovia had just finished his broadcast and was heading home when two men on a black motorcycle followed and fatally shot him along John Bosco Street, Barangay Mangagoy.

The assailants remain unidentified, and the motive is still unclear.

Segovia is the sixth journalist killed during the presidency of Ferdinand Marcos Jr., following the deaths of Renato Blanco, Percival Mabasa, Crescenciano Bunduquin, Juan Jumalon, and Juan Dayang.

A “hot pursuit” operation is underway, and authorities are activating a Special Investigation Task Group.

PTFoMS Executive Director Undersecretary Jose Torres Jr. said his office is coordinating with the Philippine National Police Media Vanguards and the Media-Citizen Council in Region 13 to expedite the investigation.
