The House Quad Committee has accepted the challenge posed by former President Rodrigo Duterte to proceed with the hearing today, November 13, following his insistence that he is prepared to appear before the committee. This comes after the initial announcement that the hearing was to be canceled and rescheduled for November 21, 2024.
In a letter dated November 11, Quad Committee Chairperson Rep. Ace Barbers informed Duterte of the change in the hearing schedule.
Duterte expressed his readiness to attend the quad committee hearing yesterday morning, November 12.
Before the commencement of the hearing at 9:30 AM, a mass will be held for the families of victims of extrajudicial killings at the People’s Center in the Batasan Pambansa Complex.
Several lawmakers have previously stated that Duterte’s behavior, characterized by cursing and shouting during his appearance before the Senate Blue Ribbon Sub-Committee hearing, would not be acceptable in the quad committee setting.
For the first time, the families of those killed in the violent drug war will confront Duterte. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
