Public officials helped Alice Guo to escape?

FUGITIVE former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo can’t possibly escape on her own, says the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) which hinted at the possibility that private individuals or even public officials may have helped Guo escape the country.

This comes as PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio cited the need for a deeper investigation to identify the persons who helped hatch an escape route for Alice Guo, also known as Guo Hua Ping.

“This would not have happened if no private individuals or maybe public officials have assisted her ‘no kasi an operation of that magnitude has so many moving parts, and to control an information such as that would require a technical expertise that is not available to just a simple private individual, so kinakailangan po ng malalimang imbestigasyon dito,” said Casio in a media forum.

He however declined to elaborate on the identities of the private individuals and the government officials who made Guo’s escape possible.

Casio said that they have collated information as to Guo’s alleged escape route.

“Based on our commission’s investigation, the last sighting we had of Alice Guo was last July 14, she was apparently seen in a private resort in the western tip of Luzon,” Casio noted, citing information from their sources.

He went on to say that PAOCC rushed to the area where Guo was supposedly seen, but were not able to arrive in time as the fugitive former mayor had already left the private resort “in two speed boats together with some members of her party” even before they were able to serve a warrant against her.

Her next sighting was on July 17 when she left Denpasar, Indonesia via Batik Air headed to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

“So she arrived in Kuala Lumpur July 18, 12:05 thereabout, her (Philippine) passport was used to get into the country,” Casio disclosed, adding that Guo spent three days in Malaysia before flying to Singapore via Jetstar Airways to Singapore.

From Singapore, Guo then went to Batam, Indonesia via ferry boat on August 18 — “So, there is a crucial time frame, time period from July 14 to 17, that we could not locate her.” (ANGEL F. JOSE)
