PNP pulls off surprise attack in Davao to arrest Quiboloy

IN what appears to be an effort to ensure Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) fanatics won’t get in their way, hundreds of Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel made a surprise “attack” at the KOJC compound in Barangay Buhangin, Davao City early today to arrest fugitive televangelist Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

According to PNP Region XI director Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III admitted that the plan was to force their way into the compound.

In a report which first came out in the GMA Integrated News portal, police were able to enter the KOJC compound at around 5:27 a.m. today.

“Nandito sa loob si Quiboloy. Hinahanap namin. Dalawang warrant of arrest ito sa mga kaso nila. Sa bawat warrant, tigli-lima sila… Kasama rin ang mga co-accused niya sa hinahanap natin,” Torre said during the GMA interview.

“Sana sumurrender na siya (Quiboloy). Makikita at makikita rin siya. It’s just a matter of time. Pahihirapan pa niya supporters niya,” he added.

The PNP previously failed to serve a warrant of arrest against the fugitive pastor on June 10 but a mob of Quiboloy supporters barricaded the compound compelling cops to use ladders to enter, creating tension between KOJC missionaries.

Quiboloy is facing a long list of criminal charges which include child abuse, human trafficking, sexual molestation, money laundering and fraud among others.

Warrants for his arrest have already been issued by two Metro Manila courts. He is also in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s most wanted list in the United States. (ANGEL F. JOSE)
