Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and five economic managers will remain as cabinet members of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Bersamin announced on Friday afternoon that Marcos Jr. has confirmed he did not accept the courtesy resignation of Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, Economy, Planning and Development Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, and Special Assistant to the President for Investment & Economic Affairs Frederick Go.
However, he accepted the resignation of Environment Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga and Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, according to Bersamin.
Loyzaga will be replaced by Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla, while Acuzar will be succeeded by Engr. Ramon Aliling.
Acuzar has been appointed as Presidential Adviser for Pasig River improvement, with the rank of secretary.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro will assume the position of Foreign Affairs Secretary, replacing Enrique Manalo, who has been appointed as the Philippine Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Antonio Manuel Lagdameo, the current Philippine Permanent Representative to the United Nations, is set to retire on July 31.
Bersamin stated that a “more careful evaluation of other positions” will take place in the coming days, with an announcement expected next week. (ZIA LUNA)
