2024 saw a plethora of celebrity breakups.
First in line was Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati’s separation in March.
Janine Gutierrez reportedly broke up with Paulo Avelino last year although there was no admission that they were a couple.
There’s the much-publicized uncoupling between already-engaged couples Catriona Gray and Sam Milby and Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque.
Before them was the controversial breakup of Kyline Alcantara and Mavy Legaspi.
Of course, there’s the highly publicized separation between Maris Racal and rock icon Rico Blanco.
And then there’s John Estrada’s controversial breakup with wife Priscilla Meirelles. The controversy stemmed from Priscilla’s reaction when John was in Boracay. Priscilla was brave enough to name John’s inamorata who was photographed with him.
In yet another controversial photo, John was snapped with an unnamed mestiza in Thailand.
Sue Ramirez and Javi Benitez also broke up, announcing their separation last November.
Of course, the most controversial of all showbiz breakups belong to Ai Ai delas Alas and her husband Gerald Sibayan whi broke up with the comedienne via chat. As revealed by Ai Ai in her interview with Boy Abunda in Fast Talk, Ai Ai said Gerald broke up with her as he is no longer happy with their relationship and that he wanted a baby.
Just as these celebrities went through with heartaches, some of them seem to have found a second chance at love.
First was Kyline Alcantara who found love in Kobe Paras. They were initially spotted walking while holding hands as they were going to a parking lot in BGC. Again, they were spotted a few times together – at GMA GALA, during Kyline’s taping, a few times in Bicol. When Kyline celebrated her birthday in the US with her family, Kobe was present.
There’s Richard Gutierrez who seems to have found another love at Barbie Imperial. After being seen in a birthday party, they were spotted together a couple of times. They were spotted in Italy where Ricchard was taping for Incognito.
A few weeks after she announced her breakup with Javi Benitez, Sue Ramirez was seen with Dominic Roque in a few instances. They were first seen together in a bar in Siargao. Last month, Sue said in an interview that she will not have a cold Christmas. Dominic, in his recent interview, said he and Sue are dating.
Kim Chiu broke up with Xian Lim in December 2023. The It’s Showtime host seems to have fully recovered from the breakup when she worked with Paulo Avelino in Linlang and later in What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim. They have a Valentine’s movie together, My Love Will Make You Disappear.
Interestingly, Paulo Avelino’s ex-girlfriend, Janine Gutierrez, is now the apple of the eye of Jericho Rosales. The two play husband and wife in Lavender Fields. In an interview for the show, Jericho admitted he’s dating Janine after they were spotted inside a mall, inside the National Museum, and on Janine’s lola Pilita Coralles’ birthday.
Also, there’s Rufa Mae Quinto’s breakup with husband Trevor Magallanes who confirmed in a post that they’re in the process of divorce.
In Trevor’s Instagram story, he wrote: “Hey guys, I felt like I need to explain myself based on social media and all that. I want to make myself clear that Rufa Mae and I are in the process of a divorce.”
“You may be aware that divorce can be very devastating to the children but also to the parents. That said, my marriage has been a shit show and I am sorry for that,” he added.
