Managing inflation and maintaining health were the top concerns for Filipinos in the last quarter of 2024, according to the latest Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey by OCTA Research.
Latest Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey by OCTA Research released on Sunday, January 12, 2025, showed that Inflation control remains the top national concern for 56% of Filipinos, though this represents a significant decline from 66% in the previous quarter.
The increasing prices of essential items, like food, continue to be a significant issue, especially in the Visayas and Mindanao, where 44% of people struggle to access affordable rice, vegetables, and meat.
On a personal level, 70% of respondents prioritized staying healthy and preventing illness. While health was a universal concern, the survey also emphasized the significance of financial stability.
Meanwhile, middle and upper-class groups (Class ABC) expressed greater concern about saving for the future. They also considered fighting graft and corruption (30%) and defending the West Philippine Sea (32%) as urgent national issues.
Other key national issues for respondents include increasing wages (36%), alleviating poverty (34%), and generating more jobs (29%). These results highlight the public’s demand for lasting solutions to economic problems.
OCTA Research said that the survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews from November 10 to 16, 2024, with 1,200 male and female respondents aged 18 and above.
The survey has a margin of error of ±3% at a 95% confidence level. For the geographic areas included in the survey, the subnational margins of error are ±6% for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, at a 95% confidence level. (TCSP)
