Netanyahu rejects ceasefire terms, says strikes on Lebanon will continue

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has contradicted reports of a US-Iran ceasefire agreement that had been confirmed by Iran, the United States, and Pakistani mediators, in a statement posted on the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office X account.

The two-week ceasefire was expected to include a halt to Israeli hostilities against Lebanon pending negotiations.

However, Netanyahu announced that aggression toward Lebanon would continue, reversing the reported terms.

“Israel supports President Trump’s decision to suspend strikes against Iran for two weeks subject to Iran immediately opening the straits and stopping all attacks on the US, Israel and countries in the region,” Netanyahu stated. “The two-weeks ceasefire does not include Lebanon.”

The statement directly contradicts the announcement made by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who mediated the deal.

Sharif had declared: “The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire across all fronts — including Lebanon and beyond — EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.” # (ZIA LUNA)
