Boac, Marinduque – In celebration of National Heritage Month, the National Museum Marinduque-Romblon area has prepared a couple of public programs on May 20 and 26 on Marinduque Bila-bila (butterfly) and moryonan visual arts respectively.
Coinciding with the annual Bila-bila festival in the capital town of Marinduque, NM Marinduque-Romblon Area would feature Mr. Leodegario Layron and Prof. Panchito Labay. According to the organizers, the discussion will highlight the technologies and practices for sustainable butterfly livelihood and environmental awareness and efforts in the preservation of butterflies. Mr. Layron is the proprietor of Marl insects and butterfly culture, while Prof. Labay is an esteemed graduate school faculty from Marinduque State University.
The next heritage activity is part lecture and part workshop with Anthony Jandusay. The said workshop and lecture highlight the art and devotion of people of Marinduque during moryonan. Both of the activities are free of cost however a preregistration is required. Onsite registration is allowed for this who are interested at least two days before the event. Bila-bila festival is an annual social practice in time for May flower and heritage month. “Marinduque’s Bila-bila: A seminar on Sustainability” is going to take place on May 20 by 1pm to 5pm. Moryonan is among the recognized intangible cultural heritage in Marinduque, “Pagpinta sa Diwa ng Moryonan: Lecture-Workshop” is going to happen by May 26 starting 9am to 5pm. (RANDY NOBLEZA)
