Marcos: “No sacred cows” in probe of Guo’s illegal departure

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said that there would be “no sacred cows” in the government as he hinted that he now knows the people who helped former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo illegally leave the Philippines.

In a media interview in Malacañang on Tuesday, August 27, Marcos said he has a “very good idea” on whose heads will roll over the escape of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo and three others from the country.

When asked whose heads would roll following Guo’s departure, Marcos said “We will identify all of those who are involved in this and we will act very quickly.”

The Chief Executive added that the investigation on Guo’s departure is “almost finished” and that he was able to discuss the issue with the Department of Justice (DoJ) through Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.

Marcos did not provide additional details but mentioned that some immigration personnel would be held responsible.

“That’s the last part of this investigation – how far, how deep does this go. Isa lang bang tao ang involved o marami sila, o sindikato ito. That’s what we’re looking for. There are no sacred cows,” Marcos said.

Guo is facing complaints related to her alleged involvement in illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in the country, along with questions about her citizenship.

Despite being under an immigration lookout bulletin due to ongoing investigations, Guo managed to leave the country on July 18.

Reports indicate that Guo traveled to Malaysia, arrived in Singapore on July 21, and then proceeded to Indonesia on August 18.

Guo’s sister, Shiela, and her business associate, Cassandra Li Ong, were arrested in Indonesia and have already been sent back to the Philippines.

During a Senate Subcommittee on Justice and Human Rights hearing, Shiela admitted that she left the country by boat with the dismissed mayor. (TCSP)
