President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday said that there have been no significant reports or evidence to support destabilization plots against him among active police and military officials.
In an ambush interview on Friday in General Santos City, Marcos refuted former senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s accusations that high-ranking, retired and active Philippine National Police (PNP) officials were recruiting members in an ouster plot against the current administration.
In particular, Trillanes claimed that the “Duterte camp” was behind the coup attempt.
“Wala kaming report na in the ranks.
The President emphasized that his main concern is the security officials, including the military, fulfilling their duty to serve and protect the country and its citizens.
He reiterated his confidence in the dedication of the police force to their duties and emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism regardless of political affiliations.
PNP spokesman Police Colonel Jean Fajardo has already mentioned earlier this week that no active police officers are involved in the scheme.
“Spare the PNP” from such problems, she urged Trillanes, arguing that the organization is preoccupied with its mission. (TCSP)
