President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. congratulated U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday, January 21, for his historic transfer of power as former President Joe Biden ended his term as the 47th American president.
“Congratulations to POTUS @realdonaldtrump and to the American people on another peaceful transfer of power in their Nation’s nearly 250-year history,” Marcos said in a statement.
“I look forward to working closely with you and your Administration,” Marcos added.
The congratulatory message emphasizes the shared values between the Philippines and the United States, underscoring the importance of their long-standing relationship.
Marcos added that the strong and lasting alliance between the two nations will continue to serve as a cornerstone for regional prosperity and security.
“The strong and lasting PH-US alliance will continue to uphold our shared vision of prosperity and security in the region,” Marcos said, reaffirming the Philippines’ commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties with the United States.
Trump was inaugurated as the 47th president on Monday (US Time), vowing to lead a “revolution of common sense” as Republicans take full control of Washington and begin their efforts to overhaul the nation’s institutions. He committed to “completely and totally reverse” the policies of his predecessor.
Having triumphed over impeachments, criminal charges, and two assassination attempts, Trump enters his second term ready to act quickly. He has executive orders prepared to address border control, ramp up fossil fuel production, and dismantle diversity and inclusion programs within the federal government. (TCSP)
