Malacañang expresses openness to a “legitimate” opposition but vows to challenge “obstructionists,” according to Palace Press Officer Claire Castro in a post-midterm election press briefing.

This statement follows Vice President Sara Duterte’s pledge to establish a “powerful opposition” against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s administration as partial election results emerge.

Clarifying the distinction, Castro explains that a “legitimate” opposition advocates for the people’s interests, while “obstructionists” prioritize their own.

(ZIA LUNA)
