The Makabayan Coalition, represented by its Co-Chairperson and Bayan Muna Chairman Neri Colmenares, proudly announces the inclusion of Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) Chairperson Danilo “Ka Daning” Ramos in their senatorial slate for the upcoming elections. This marks a significant step towards advancing genuine agrarian reform and national industrialization in the Philippines.

“Ka Daning Ramos brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the struggles faced by our farmers,” said Neri Colmenares. “His journey from a tenant farmer’s family to a staunch advocate for peasants’ rights is truly inspiring. It is high time that the voices of the Filipino masses, particularly our farmers, are heard and represented in the Senate.”

Ka Daning Ramos, a native of Malolos, Bulacan, has lived through the hardships of rural and urban life, working as a construction worker, tricycle driver, and utility worker. His leadership in KMP has been pivotal in pushing for policies that advocate for land reform and the protection of farmers’ rights against exploitation and displacement.

“Part of his program is finding a way to bring down rice prices. He is pushing for government subsidy for local rice production and government subsidy for rice that is sold on the market. This is a candidate who understands why prices of rice are high and how to bring prices down,” Colmenares stated.

“With Ka Daning in our slate, we are reinforcing our call for policies that prioritize local production over importation, ensure affordable staple goods for all Filipinos, and uphold human rights and national sovereignty,” Colmenares added. “The legacy of traditional politicians and dynasties must end. It is time for leaders who genuinely carry the interests of the Filipino people.”

The Makabayan Coalition invites all Filipinos to support this significant shift towards new politics, good governance, and service for the people. As we approach the 2025 elections, we say, “Magsasaka Naman!”
